Work that's tailored to your unique needs — grounded in Relational Gestalt philosophy, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory, IFS, and Transcultural Therapy. A space to reconnect with your authentic self, at your own pace.
Every piece of work is different, because every person is. These are the threads that run through all of it.
No manualised programme. Our work is shaped around your history, your pace, and what you need it to be.
Change happens in relationship. The therapeutic relationship itself becomes a place to practise trust, safety and repair.
Grounded in Polyvagal Theory and IFS, so we move at a pace your nervous system can actually work with.
Modalities I draw on
Whatever has brought you here, there's space for it.
Support with emotional regulation, low mood, and the weight that anxiety can bring to daily life.
Childhood trauma, including sexual, emotional and physical abuse, and relational trauma more broadly.
Cultural, sexual and gender identity challenges, family estrangement, and life transitions.
That connection to the outdoors shapes how I work — mindful, unhurried, and rooted in the present moment.
When I'm not in the therapy room, you'll usually find me outdoors — walking, hiking, gardening, or simply tending to nature. That relationship with nature isn't separate from my work; it's part of how I stay grounded, present, and able to hold space for others.
My background is in social work. I've worked with private organisations, non-profits, local authorities, and universities. Alongside my private practice, I held an associate psychotherapist position with the NHS Healthy Gay Lives, and I attend regular training to keep my knowledge current.
I hold a Master's Degree in Psychotherapy and a Master's Degree in Social Work. I spent five years studying for my MSc in Psychotherapy — and during that time, I followed a process similar to yours, trusting myself to work with a psychotherapist. That experience deepens my compassion for your journey.
As an experienced UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, I've taught on psychotherapy training programmes at both the University of Warwick and Regents College London, and held leadership positions at national and international psychotherapy member organisations. I also work as a clinical supervisor, supporting other therapists in their professional growth.
My love for humanity drives me to adhere to a strict ethical code with UKCP, UPCA, and BACP. This ensures I won't abuse your trust or vulnerability. I also hold an enhanced police check and am fully insured.
Taught on psychotherapy training programmes, shaping the next generation of practitioners.
Delivered psychotherapeutic support within an NHS service context.
Held leadership positions at national and international psychotherapy member organisations.
Supporting other therapists in their professional growth and reflective practice.
Since August 2024, I've provided clinical supervision for this Wellcome Trust-funded research project examining distress and suicidality among nurses, led by an interdisciplinary team of researchers across the Universities of Surrey, Birmingham and Keele. Learn more about the project.
Whether you're seeking individual support or professional development as a fellow practitioner, here's how sessions are structured.
Longer-term, in-depth work for anxiety, depression, trauma and identity, grounded in Relational Gestalt and Attachment Theory.
Focused, supportive work through life transitions, relationship struggles, and family estrangement.
Reflective, supportive supervision for fellow therapists and counsellors, drawing on decades of clinical and teaching experience.
All sessions are 50 minutes unless otherwise noted, available in person in Birmingham or online.
A first meeting to get to know one another — we'll talk through your background, your wellbeing, and what you'd like our work together to focus on.
Weekly, ongoing sessions offered between 9am and 4pm — a steady space to explore what's on your mind.
The same weekly therapeutic space, held in the evening for those who can't make daytime hours.
For fellow professionals in counselling, psychotherapy, academia or social work — a reflective space focused on you, your clients, and your practice.
Health insurance: I accept a number of well-known providers, including Bupa. Fees vary by company, so please check your cover with your provider, then get in touch and I'll help you get started.
Occasional writing on the therapeutic process, the theories that inform my practice, and the outdoor spaces I find as grounding as the therapy room itself.
Why self-reliance can be a survival strategy, not a personality trait — and what it can look like to gently soften into closeness again.
Coming soonA gentle introduction to why safety, not insight alone, is often the starting point of trauma-informed work.
Coming soonOn the quiet overlap between mindful presence outdoors and the kind of presence therapy asks us to bring to ourselves.

Reaching out is often the hardest step. A short call or email is all it takes to start.
No forms, no waiting — just a call or an email, straight to me.
Based in Birmingham, working in person and online.
Nadine Wilson, trading as Nadine Wilson Therapy, is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts, and has no contact forms that store data automatically. It only logs standard, anonymous technical information (such as IP address) that any web server records for administration purposes. Enquiries only happen when you choose to call or email directly.
Where you go on to work with me as a client, I collect and process personal information — including details about your mental health and emotional wellbeing — for the following reasons:
I have a legal and insurance obligation to retain psychotherapy and counselling records for 5 years after your most recent appointment (or until age 25, for records relating to a child). After that period, you can ask me to delete your records.
Your data is never shared with anyone who doesn't need it, without your written consent. Routine access is limited to:
If you feel your personal data has been mishandled, please contact me directly using the details above so I can look into it. If you remain unsatisfied, you have the right to raise the matter with the UK's data protection regulator:
Nadine Wilson Therapy is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities, and to continually improving the experience of this website for everyone.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) set out three levels of conformance — A, AA and AAA. I aim for all pages and content on this site to meet at least Level AA, though some content may not yet fully reach that standard, whether due to the practicalities of a particular page or the tools available to build it. This statement will be revised periodically as the site's accessibility improves.
I know I may not yet have made this site accessible to everyone who visits it, and it hasn't been formally tested with a full range of screen readers or assistive technologies. If you come across a barrier, I'd genuinely like to know.
The Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018 place specific legal accessibility duties on public sector websites; as a private practice, Nadine Wilson Therapy isn't covered by those regulations. However, under the Equality Act 2010, service providers are expected to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people aren't put at a disadvantage — and that's the standard I aim to meet here.
If any part of this website is hard to access or use, or you'd like information in a different format, please get in touch:
I aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 3–5 business days, and to put things right where I reasonably can.
